Taking a Stand: Ensuring Your Business Makes an Impact at Trade Shows

Maximize your business's impact at trade shows. From early preparation, hiring the right staff, to effective social media use, make your stand count.

A trade show or exhibition is an amazing opportunity for you to make an impact. Promoting your business at a trade show is a great way to get your business and product out there and meet prospective clients or customers, and this is why you need to start thinking about how you can make it impactful at these events. Here are a few things to consider.

Prepare Properly

Preparing way in advance is critical anyway, but you’ve got to make sure that if you are opting for banner printing services and a number of eye-catching visuals to make your exhibition stand pop you’ve got to give it the time it deserves. Logistically speaking, it can be a nightmare if you haven’t planned properly. If you plan on launching new products around the event or you plan on giving items away, you’ve got to get started at least one month before the event.

Hiring the Right Staff

You may opt for temporary staff, but when you are showcasing your business, the people you bring into the fold must know how to talk the talk as well as walk the walk. They need to make sure they know what they’re doing, for example, what activities they will promote, what giveaways they have, and how to work the digital display. These people need to be enthusiastic so they can give off the right impression, but they also need to be able to know how to make everything run effectively. Ultimately, your business is trying to give off a certain impression, and if you’ve got temporary staff that are only there to look bored and seldom engage with people, it’s going to be a waste of your money and could negatively impact your business.

Get Your Social Media Ready

The great thing about an event such as a trade show or exhibition is that you can get a lot of buzz around your product or service before the event begins. You can use hashtags, photos, and set up competitions way in advance to ensure that you will have some form of engagement online, which should hopefully translate into the real world.

Identify What You Need to Achieve

Is your goal to create more awareness, or are you actually looking for contacts? Ensuring that you have the goals in mind will give you and your team the focus to achieve this. When you start building bridges with people, you need to follow up with any customers or contacts so the business stays fresh in their minds. Making leads is critical, and you should ensure they land on your CRM system within two days of the event finishing.

Whether you want to start scaling your business or you are still at the embryonic stages where you feel you could do with a bit more attention, a trade show can create potentially hundreds of leads and promote your business in new and exciting ways, but if you are to make an impact at these exhibitions you’ve got to put in the groundwork.
