Jeffrey Schenck, Barry Barnholtz and Peter Sullivan on Wednesday launched vertTV, a subscription streaming platform built around vertical micro series for mobile viewing, alongside a standalone app on iOS and Android and a YouTube channel, @vertTVPlus, carrying free previews. The three founders spent the past two decades together at Hybrid, where they produced Secret Obsession, which drew more than 40 million viewers on Netflix's Top U.S. Movies chart in its first month, Fatal Affair with Nia Long and Omar Epps, and Christmas Under Wraps, still the highest-rated original movie in Hallmark Channel's history.

vertTV controls development, writing, production, post-production, technology and distribution in-house, the company says, and launches with more than 200 titles from the founders' existing library featuring Vivica A. Fox, Krista Allen and Corin Nemec. A development slate is already underway, including Lone Star Hearts, an oil-industry drama starring Josh Henderson and Cindy Busby, and Wicked Wives, an Atlanta ensemble murder mystery executive produced by and starring Fox.
