title: The Road Less travelled
description: I almost guarantee that the harder, less travelled road ends up in a far more beautiful place at the end than the one that has all the traffic. Almost ninety nine percent of people give up after even three decades of trying, but they are so close to their success, so I would say don’t give up, focus on the important not on the urgent, be persistent and be relentless. ## Kevin E. France Interview by Silvija Popovic

With over 25 years of experience working with more than 1,000 companies, Kevin E. France started out in business by redefining ‘winging it’. Since then, Kevin has travelled the world finding success every step of the way. Kevin started by building a sales division without really knowing what one was, and then building a healthcare division with similarly limited knowledge, both to great effect.

Life went on like this until, on the advice of a friend who suggested it as a way to work less and make more, Kevin started his own consultancy firm, Momentum group, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. The company now operates in 38 countries on six continents. Kevin shares his beliefs and business strategies with us.

*Your early work life involved taking risks, taking on jobs that, by your own admission, you weren’t sure you fully understood and thriving. Did you use any particular techniques to help you with the* *confidence and focus needed to succeed?*

What I would do is look at something and then I would visualise it. I’ll give a quick example, just think of a car that you want, doesn’t matter what kind of car but just visualise it, and then close your eyes and say you know this is the kind of car I want, this is the colour I want, and I guarantee what will start happening is you will start seeing this car in this colour more and more. These cars have always been there, it’s just that they weren’t in your in your consciousness, it’s a law of attraction. That was what, I set myself some goals and I started with some smaller goals, and then I made what I call outrageous goals and I just kept focusing on them.

I’m a man of faith, so I kept the whole focus on that as well and I am just relentless in what I want to do. I’ve been told no more often than I’ve been told yes, but we just can’t be stifled by the ‘no’s in our life. You know I read something not too long ago that said no actually means just I’m closer to my next opportunity.

*Looking back, what is the one lesson you’ve learnt that you wish you’d have known at the beginningof your journey?*

To believe that I could do this and to believe that I deserve to have this, and to always do the right thing. I think when you do the right thing if you do it for the right intentions and your heart is pure amazing things will happen, but you have to believe. If you don’t believe in yourself why should anybody else believe in you? A if you believe you can do whatever you choose. Next year I’m climbing Mount Everest and would never have thought I would be climbing mountains. I climbed Kilimanjaro and I thought gosh, can I climb Kilimanjaro, but I believed, and every step I took I said to myself “success, success”. It’s the small steps, the millions of small steps that we all have, things don’t happen overnight, for some lucky people they do, but for the for the vast majority of us it’s one step at a time, don’t get discouraged and you’ll get there.

*Do you have advice for our readers who may want to follow in your
footsteps?*

There are two roads we can always take we can take the big road, the popular, big highway that almost everybody’s on, or we can take the smaller path, the one that’s less travelled, but the one I almost guarantee that the harder, less travelled road ends up in a far more beautiful place at the end than the one that has all the traffic. Almost ninety nine percent of people give up after even three decades of trying, but they are so close to their success, so I would say don’t give up, focus on the important not on the urgent, be persistent and be relentless.
