Gergely Orosz, who writes the widely read newsletter The Pragmatic Engineer, said he tried to book an engineer from Cursor for his podcast to discuss mostly non-Cursor topics and was turned down. "Blocked by SpaceX Comms: they only allow podcasts to cover Grok Bot right now," Orosz wrote in a post on X on September 8, 2026. He added a second line: "Message received. Expect no SpaceX podcast guests."

The exchange comes weeks before SpaceX completes its purchase of Cursor's parent company, and it is the first public sign of how the coding tool's engineers are being handled in the run-up to the deal. SpaceX has not commented, and the account is Orosz's own.
