A DUI defense firm in Leominster, Massachusetts went from 318 organic website visits a month to 2,567 within two years of hiring Rise Marketing Group, an increase of 707%. The agency, based in Dedham outside Boston and led by founder and CEO Ben Lund, reports the firm now ranks in the top five Google results for 27 search terms, up from a handful when the work began. A second client, a multi-practice firm in nearby Fitchburg covering personal injury, DUI, family and employment law, saw organic visits rise from 198 to 520 a month over twelve months and the number of keywords it ranked for climb from 119 to 936.

Rise Marketing Group was founded in 2018 and holds Google Partner status, along with partner accreditations from Microsoft, Semrush, CallRail and Klaviyo. The agency serves ecommerce and local business clients too, but its [marketing for lawyers](https://risemkg.com/marketing-for-lawyers/) practice has become a focus, and Lund said in an interview last month that the firm is doubling down on legal. Its law firm clients work in family law, estate planning, bankruptcy, Social Security disability, personal injury, birth injury and DUI defense.

> "The key to driving growth is simple: connect people actively searching for legal services with the law firms we market. We do this through a strategic mix of paid search and SEO."
> — Ben Lund, founder and CEO, Rise Marketing Group

Attorneys and legal services are among the most expensive categories in online advertising, with LocaliQ's 2026 search advertising benchmarks putting the average cost per click at $9.87 against $5.42 across all industries, and the average cost per lead at $131.63 against $66.69. Personal injury terms in large metropolitan markets are widely reported to run far higher. The American Tort Reform Association [counted more than $2.5 billion](https://atra.org/trial-lawyer-advertising-soars-to-2-5-billion/) spent on legal services advertising in the United States in 2024, with digital spending up 84% since 2020. At those prices, a law firm that measures campaigns by traffic rather than signed clients can spend heavily without knowing whether any of it produced a case.

## Google Ads for Law Firms and Local Services Ads

Rise Marketing Group's [Google Ads for lawyers](https://risemkg.com/sem/google-ads-for-lawyers/) service starts with call tracking through CallRail and form conversion tracking, before any ad is written, because the agency finds that most leads for its attorney clients arrive as phone calls rather than form submissions. Campaigns are organized into ad groups by service type, each with two or three ads, and linked to the firm's Google Business Profile. The agency recommends a starting budget of at least $1,500 a month and says the first two weeks require daily review of search term reports to add negative keywords, screening out spam callers and searches with no legal intent.

[Local Services Ads for lawyers](https://risemkg.com/sem/local-service-ads-for-lawyers/) sit above the standard paid results on Google and show the firm's rating, hours and years in business alongside a call button. Unlike Google Ads, they charge per lead rather than per click, so the firm pays only when a prospective client calls or messages. Google runs its own verification of licensing and insurance before a firm can appear, and since October 2025 has grouped its former Google Screened and Google Guaranteed badges under a single Google Verified label. Rise Marketing Group handles the eligibility check, account setup and verification paperwork, and says positive reviews are the largest single factor in winning the Local Services auction.

## Facebook Ads for Lawyers Through Meta

The agency's [Meta Ads for lawyers](https://risemkg.com/social-media/meta-ads-for-lawyers/) work runs across Facebook and Instagram and is built around a geographic radius of ten to 25 miles from the office, with targeting by life events and by lookalike audiences drawn from the top one to three percent of a firm's existing converters. Tracking is installed through Google Tag Manager, the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API before spend begins. Rob Lund, the agency's marketing manager, has written that Meta's automated Advantage+ campaigns need around 50 conversions in a seven-day window before they optimize properly, which is why the agency pairs them with retargeting of people who have already visited the firm's site.

## Law Firm SEO and AI Search Optimization

The organic results in the two case studies came from a content program rather than technical fixes alone. The Leominster DUI firm began with two blog posts and one guest post a month, later raised to two of each, alongside directory listings and an initial technical audit. The agency's [SEO for lawyers](https://risemkg.com/seo/seo-for-lawyers-how-to-get-more-clients-with-organic-search/) approach gives each practice area its own landing page of at least 500 words, adds LegalService schema markup, and lists the firm in Justia, FindLaw, Lawyers.com and the American Bar Association directory as well as local chambers of commerce. Lund warns firms against publishing AI-generated content, which the agency says risks a drop in authority and Google penalties.

The agency has extended its SEO work to AI answer engines as the way people look for lawyers changes. A survey of 1,110 US adults published by iLawyerMarketing in August 2026 found 71.9% would use Google to research an attorney, down from 86.7% the previous year, while 41.9% would use ChatGPT, up from 28.1% in 2025 and 9% in 2023. Rise Marketing Group now optimizes client sites for citation by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Bing as well as Google, including the LLMS.txt files that AI crawlers read.

## Law Firm Website Design

Rise Marketing Group has built or managed websites for close to a dozen law firms, from medical malpractice and negligence practices to estate planners. Its [website development for law firms](https://risemkg.com/web-development/website-development-best-practices-for-law-firms/) standard calls for pages that load in under three seconds on mobile, HTTPS throughout, a URL structure that puts each practice area one level below the homepage, and accessibility compliance, since law firms are frequent targets of website accessibility lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Lund has said that code debt, the accumulated shortcuts of previous developers, is the most common problem the agency finds in website audits. The agency builds on WordPress and offers hosting and monthly maintenance packages so firms are not left managing the site themselves.

## Measuring Law Firm Marketing Against Signed Clients

Every campaign is tracked from click to lead to new client, with phone calls attributed through CallRail and offline conversions fed back into Google Ads so the platform learns which clicks became cases. Results are reported through custom Looker Studio dashboards, and Lund says the agency meets every client at least every two weeks. Budget is moved between Google Ads, Local Services Ads, Meta and SEO on the basis of cost per signed client rather than cost per visit.

## Ben Lund's Path From Google to Rise Marketing Group

Lund graduated from the Isenberg School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2004 and spent the following years in advertising sales at Monster.com and as an account manager at Yahoo, handling accounts including Comcast and Fidelity. From 2011 he worked in business development at Rimm-Kaufman Group, the search agency later acquired by Merkle, before joining Google as an account manager. He left Google to start Rise Marketing Group in 2018. He has since written for Search Engine Land on combining Google Ads with SEO, and the agency has donated advertising work to The Ocean Cleanup since 2018 and makes an annual donation to One Tree Planted.

The team of twelve is based in the Boston area with some remote staff, and includes a director of ecommerce, a director of lead generation, an SEO lead, two developers, a designer and a copywriter. Law firms can reach the agency's legal marketing team through its marketing for lawyers page.

## FAQ

**Q: How much should a law firm spend on Google Ads?**
Rise Marketing Group recommends a starting budget of at least $1,500 a month for a law firm, on top of agency fees. With legal clicks averaging $9.87 and leads $131.63 according to LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks, a smaller budget produces too few leads to judge what is working, and the first two weeks of any campaign are spent adding negative keywords to cut wasted spend.

**Q: How much do Local Services Ads cost for lawyers?**
Local Services Ads charge per lead rather than per click, so a firm pays only when a prospective client calls or messages through the ad. Google screens out irrelevant calls and lets the firm dispute leads that were not genuine. The cost per lead varies by practice area and location, and Google requires licensing and insurance verification before a firm can appear.

**Q: How do law firms find clients online?**
Through paid search on Google, Local Services Ads, organic search, legal directories such as Justia and FindLaw, and social advertising on Facebook and Instagram. AI answer engines are a growing source: 41.9% of US adults surveyed in August 2026 said they would use ChatGPT to research an attorney, up from 9% three years earlier, which is why Rise Marketing Group now optimizes client sites for AI citation as well as Google rankings.

**Q: What kind of advertising do lawyers most commonly use?**
Search advertising remains the largest channel. US legal services advertising passed $2.5 billion in 2024, and digital spending rose 84% between 2020 and 2024 while television and print declined. For a small or mid-sized firm, Rise Marketing Group's model combines Google Ads and Local Services Ads for immediate leads with SEO for organic traffic that compounds over time, as in the DUI defense firm whose organic visits rose 707% in two years.
