Navatar, a Salesforce-based CRM provider for private equity and investment banking firms in New York and London, announced on July 23 the launch of a Claude-native deal engine that pairs its own Navatar CRM and Navatar AI products with Salesforce Agentforce and Anthropic's Claude model. The company positions the release as a way to move [private markets firms](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/affinity-ascend-ai-agents-private-capital) from ad hoc, individual use of AI chatbots toward a shared, auditable system built into the CRM firms already use for origination and portfolio tracking.

The launch responds to a problem Navatar says it hears from clients directly: partners and deal teams have started using Claude to source targets, summarize documents and draft materials, but that use is often scattered across individual chat sessions with no shared record. Navatar's pitch is that CRM, not a standalone AI tool, should keep that work consistent and reviewable across a firm.

Whether that pitch holds up depends on a trade-off the announcement does not resolve: centralizing AI-assisted dealmaking inside one CRM vendor's data model gives a firm a single audit trail, but it also ties that dealmaking to Navatar's own structures for as long as the firm uses the product.
