[Moa Technology](https://www.moa-technology.com), an Oxford spinout that searches for herbicides with entirely new modes of action, has closed a £22.2 million Series C round co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Supernova Invest. The round arrives with four commercial research partnerships already in place, formed over the past 24 months with Nufarm, Gowan, Certis Belchim and Corteva Agriscience, each working with Moa on novel-mode-of-action programmes aimed at crop-killing weeds.

New investors joining the round include Agri Investment Fund, GrainInnovate (a fund backed by Australia's Grain Research Development Corporation and managed by Artesian), Infinity Investment Partners and Magdalen College Oxford. Existing backers Lansdowne Partners, Parkwalk and Oxford University Innovation also returned. AgFunderNews independently reports the raise at approximately $30 million, converting to the same £22.2 million figure Moa cites.

Moa says its platform has screened more than 900,000 compounds and identified over 80 novel mode-of-action areas, the biochemical routes by which a herbicide kills or suppresses a weed. Several of its most advanced programmes are in successive seasons of international field trials, testing performance against some of the toughest weeds to control in commercial farming.
