MIT Sloan School of Management has introduced a part-time Evening MBA, becoming the first elite business school to add a primarily in-person, cohort-based evening program to its degree portfolio, targeting professionals who want an MIT credential without leaving the workforce.

The program, announced July 15, joins four existing MIT Sloan MBA formats: the traditional two-year full-time MBA, the Executive MBA, the Sloan Fellows MBA, and the dual-degree Leaders for Global Operations program. The Evening MBA completes 22 months of study, with courses meeting two evenings per week from 6 to 9 p.m. The first cohort matriculates in August 2027.

The move reflects a broader shift in graduate management education toward part-time and flexible formats, a structural change that has largely bypassed the handful of schools at the top of full-time rankings. MIT Sloan has not previously appeared in US News part-time MBA rankings, which are led by Northwestern Kellogg, UC Berkeley Haas, and NYU Stern.
