The US Federal Aviation Administration has accepted the final set of ASTM consensus standards for light sport powered-lift aircraft under its MOSAIC rule, clearing a critical certification pathway for AIR, the Israeli eVTOL aircraft startup behind the two-seat AIR ONE.

The acceptance, which takes effect 24 July 2026, concludes what AIR describes as one of the largest standards-writing efforts in light aviation history. [Nearly 40 ASTM standards were created, revised, or repurposed](https://www.faa.gov/aircraft/MOSAIC) for the occasion, a volume that rivals the original Light Sport Aircraft rulemaking carried out between 1994 and 2004. For AIR, the development removes a structural uncertainty that had kept its commercial timeline provisional.

The company, [founded in 2018 by Chen Rosen, Rani Plaut, and Netanel Goldberg](https://www.calcalistech.com/ctechnews/article/hkqf9p11jwx) and headquartered in Kfar Yona, Israel, with an operations centre in Florida, says it played a central role in the standards process alongside FAA officials, industry partners, and international civil aviation authorities. It now holds more than 4,000 customers on its waitlist, with [orders valued at $1 billion](https://www.calcalistech.com/ctechnews/article/hkqf9p11jwx).
