Intactis Bio Corp, a Salt Lake City startup working out of Altitude Lab, the accelerator founded by Recursion Pharmaceuticals, is raising a $5 million seed round for a processor it says performs computation using living human neurons instead of silicon.

The company has raised more than $1 million since it was founded in 2024, including pre-seed money from the Nucleus Fund and RPV. Its founder and chief executive, Daniel Rodriguez-Granrose, holds a doctorate and previously led bioprocess development at the cell therapy company DiscGenics. Its neuroscience lead, Elissa Pastuzyn, was first author on a 2018 paper in Cell. The product, which the company calls a Biohybrid Processing Unit, is pre-commercial.

To demonstrate it, Intactis has opened a browser game called Biostack Alpha, in which a player competes at Tetris against a dish of neurons. The game board is delivered to the tissue as patterns of electrical stimulation, and the responses are read back as moves. The company says the culture has faced more than 30 human challengers without losing, and that it improves across sessions without any software update.
