Google does not have enough computing capacity to meet demand for Gemini 4 Argon, its newest AI model, Alphabet and Google chief executive Sundar Pichai said this week. Its cloud business is giving up short-term revenue so that the company's frontier AI research gets compute first.

Argon processed almost 25 trillion tokens in its first 72 hours, about three times what Gemini 3.0 handled over the same period, Pichai told Alex Kantrowitz in a [Big Technology Podcast interview](https://www.bigtechnology.com/p/sundar-pichai-googles-frontier-imperative) recorded at Google's Mountain View headquarters and published with a full transcript on October 20. "And we are capacity constrained as we are serving it," he said.

Pichai gave the same token figure to Alex Heath in a separate [Sources interview](https://sources.news/p/sundar-pichai-gemini-4-google-other-bets) taped on Monday. Heath writes that more efficient versions of the model are in development to widen access.
