Gergely Orosz, the software engineer who writes The Pragmatic Engineer newsletter, wrote in a post on X on October 11 that Meta had removed human support from Instagram and that paying customers now get AI support only. In the post he added: "But the AI support doesn’t work. As in, at all." He wrote that he pays for a product with "no support, no way to report this", and no way to get a receipt.

Orosz, who previously worked at Uber and Skype/Microsoft, writes for [more than 1 million readers](https://newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/about) on Substack. He did not say which Meta subscription he pays for. Meta has not publicly commented on his post, and it has announced no removal of human support from Instagram or from Meta Verified, the subscription that comes with extra account help.
