Shearwater Global Capital, the aviation finance arm of specialist lender Bay Point, has signed a Letter of Intent with Eve Air Mobility for up to 16 eVTOL aircraft, marking one of the clearest signals yet that institutional aviation finance is moving into the advanced air mobility sector in earnest.

The agreement, announced July 19 at Farnborough, adds Shearwater to Eve's order book as a lessor rather than an operator. Shearwater's role is to buy aircraft and lease them downstream to air mobility operators, lowering the capital barrier for carriers that want to launch electric air taxi services without committing to outright purchases. The deal also adds to what Eve describes as an industry-leading backlog of [aircraft commitments from customers and investors worldwide](https://www.eveairmobility.com/eve-air-mobility-secures-an-order-for-up-to-16-evtol-aircraft-from-shearwater-global-capital-bay-points-aviation-finance-company/).

Shearwater was established within Bay Point in April 2026, joining an ecosystem that already includes commercial and private aviation lenders. The Eve LOI is an early move under that structure, and it signals that Bay Point sees advanced air mobility as a financeable asset class, not merely a technology bet.
