Endra, the Stockholm company that automates mechanical, electrical and plumbing design with AI, is opening a North American headquarters in New York, a West Coast office in San Francisco and a UK office in London, two months after closing a $50 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz.

The expansion puts [Endra](https://endra.ai) into the two markets where [the gap between construction demand and engineering capacity](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/probook-40m-series-a-field-service-ai) is widest. The United States went into 2026 short roughly 439,000 construction workers, according to the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, a shortfall driven in part by the data centre buildout. In the UK, the Construction Industry Training Board estimates the industry needs 206,000 additional workers by 2030, around 41,200 a year, with electricians among the hardest trades to recruit and 40 per cent of the existing workforce over 45.

MEP engineering, the mechanical, electrical and plumbing design behind every major building, is where that capacity problem concentrates. Engineers calculate loads and flows, size systems, place thousands of devices, route cabling, ductwork and piping, and produce the documentation contractors price and build from. When MEP slips, the whole project slips. The work typically accounts for 1 to 5 per cent of total project cost, and the global MEP services market exceeds $150 billion a year by Andreessen Horowitz's estimate.

## MEP Engineering Automation From Two Months to Under a Day

Endra's platform ingests standard building model files, integrates with BIM tools such as Revit, and reconstructs each building in a detailed 3D environment. From there it automates system design, device placement, routing, model generation and compliance-ready documentation across 3D and 2D deliverables. The company says a code-compliant electrical design for a 500,000 square foot commercial building, work that traditionally takes around two months, can be completed in less than a day.

The pitch to engineering firms is a way to scale their expertise without changing how they work. Engineers keep the workflows they already know, and the platform takes on the repetitive work of placement, routing and documentation.

"Having spent the past year in discussions with the largest design firms in the world, one thing has become clear: the shift to AI-native engineering is underway," said Anton Juric, co-founder and president of Endra, who is leading the US expansion. "The firms that move first will have more capacity, faster timelines, and a new way to scale their expertise. The US is the largest construction market in the world, and we are building there in person because enterprise trust is won in the room."

## From Stockholm to a $50 Million Series A in Under Two Years

Endra was founded in Stockholm in October 2024 by four co-founders. Chief executive Niklas Lindgren and Juric are childhood friends who previously founded Sectragon, a technical-security company later acquired by a listed buyer; David Rydberg and Gustav Hammarlund built trading infrastructure for Goldman Sachs in Stockholm.

The company has raised $75 million in around 13 months: a €3 million pre-seed led by Norrsken VC in May 2025, a $20 million seed led by Notion Capital in December 2025, and the $50 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz in June 2026, with Notion Capital and Norrsken VC following on. That is considerably more than rivals working on the same problem have raised in total, and it has funded a hiring plan that runs through all three new offices. Endra is recruiting across engineering, sales and customer success in New York, San Francisco and London, pacing toward 100 employees globally over the next twelve months. The London office serves engineering consultancies in the UK and acts as a hub for enterprise customers across Europe and the Middle East.

Among the engineers making the platform native to US and UK codes and standards is Hadla Bergman, who joined from the Swedish autonomous freight company Einride. "Buildings are an even bigger canvas," she said. "At Endra we are bringing that same ambition to how the world's buildings are designed."

## Data Centre Construction Sharpens the Engineering Bottleneck

Global data centre capital expenditure is expected to pass $400 billion in 2026, and the constraint on delivery is increasingly the one Endra works on: electrical and mechanical design capacity, and the skilled trades that build from it. Hospitals, electrified buildings, dense urban developments and net-zero mandates add further engineering complexity to a workforce the industry cannot train fast enough.

The expansion sets the stage for Epoch, Endra's launch event in Las Vegas on 14 September 2026, where the company will unveil its electrical module and set out its plans for AI-native MEP engineering. Speakers include chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov.

"Epoch is the biggest step forward in our product's history," said Lindgren. "The industry has spent twenty-five years waiting for software that understands the actual engineering work. That wait is ending."
