Its platform handles hundreds of queries an hour. ## Application Management Services and the Cost of Enterprise Software Maintenance Once SAP, Salesforce, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics goes live, the business around it keeps changing, and thousands of company-specific rules are added to the software over the years. When something breaks, the answer is rarely in one place. Dodge AI estimates that keeping these systems running costs enterprises more than $600 billion a year. For decades most of this work has gone to [large system integrators](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/infosys-partners-with-anthropic-on-agentic-ai-for-enterprise) such as Accenture, TCS and IBM under application management services (AMS) contracts. The usual arrangement puts 20 to 50 people offshore to deal with incidents, change requests, background jobs and day-to-day faults. Dodge AI says this model keeps systems running but leaves fixes undocumented, lets customizations pile up and adds to the technical debt inside core business systems. Dodge AI gives enterprises the ability to continuously improve and heal their mission-critical systems so incidents can be resolved faster, technical debt can be understood, and the knowledge trapped inside maintenance work can become the foundation for future transformation." The platform works as a control plane, a single layer that sits across the applications at the core of large companies, including SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Kinaxis and Oracle JD Edwards. It connects business processes, ERP customizations, IT service management (ITSM) tools and legacy configurations to find the root cause of a problem and recommend a fix. The company says its agents resolve routine level 1 and level 2 support tickets and can prepare changes to a customer's SAP code, which go ahead only once a person approves them. Dodge AI also wants the platform to become a source of truth for AI agents operating in production. In enterprise systems, the most important knowledge is often about the exceptions, such as why one warehouse allocates inventory differently, why one pricing rule overrides another or why a background job runs only at night. "Frontier models are incredibly capable, but enterprise adoption still requires significant hill climbing," said Aditya Thakur, Dodge AI's co-founder and chief technology officer. "Dodge AI captures the necessary rules and exceptions for this, while self-healing your systems instead of an endless transformation project." ## SAP Incident Resolution at Enterprise Customers At one customer, a truck could not be loaded at a warehouse because a Goods Receipt Note was printing incorrect information. Dodge AI says it traced the fault across SAP, Kinaxis and the customer's internal warehouse software and delivered a fix within minutes. Another customer had been running inventory planning overnight because SAP kept crashing when the job ran in the morning. According to Dodge AI, it modernized the process and made it 132 times faster, freed the team of 10 people who had been maintaining it and improved order allocation time by eight hours. ## Accel and Google's AI Futures Fund Back Dodge AI "Application maintenance is one of the largest and least modernized categories in enterprise technology," said Prayank Swaroop, a partner at Accel. "Dodge AI is taking on the work that keeps the world's most important systems running every day. By starting with maintenance, the team is building the context layer enterprises need before agents can safely operate in production." Swaroop invests in early-stage software and cybersecurity companies from Accel's Bengaluru office. Google's AI Futures Fund, launched in May 2025, invests in startups that build with Google DeepMind's models and gives them early access to those models along with cloud credits. Companies want to modernize, but chief information officers cannot risk breaking systems that already work, and daily incidents take up much of their budgets. Dodge AI says that dealing with maintenance first frees IT teams from constant firefighting and gives them a clearer path to modernization. SAP ends mainstream maintenance for ERP 6.0, the system widely known as ECC, on December 31, 2027. Customers who stay on it after that can pay for extended maintenance until the end of 2030.
