Canton Creator Digital Asset has expanded its oversubscribed $355 million funding round with two new strategic investors: Shinhan Financial Group, the largest banking group in South Korea, and SC Ventures, the innovation and investment arm of Standard Chartered. The additions follow the initial close, which was led by Andreessen Horowitz's crypto fund, a16z crypto, and drew participation from institutions across both traditional and decentralised finance.

The round is directed at building out the Canton Network, which Digital Asset describes as the only public layer-one blockchain with institutional-grade privacy. Founded in 2014, the company has positioned Canton as infrastructure purpose-built for regulated capital markets, enabling financial institutions to bring assets, applications, and workflows onchain without compromising privacy, compliance, or interoperability.

Shinhan Financial Group's participation is expected to support discussions around institutional adoption in South Korea and broader Asia. The investment follows Digital Asset's recently announced partnership with Hanwha, another Korean conglomerate, deepening the company's footprint in a region where institutional interest in digital assets has grown steadily. SC Ventures builds and invests in financial technology ventures and brings an institutional network and digital assets ecosystem that extends across global markets.
