Czechia's largest grid-scale battery storage system has begun operating at Teplice, in the north of the country. It is set up to sell fast-response frequency regulation and balancing power to the grid and to trade on the energy market, as well as to store surplus output from the solar plant beside it.

The site, KATEMO PARK Modlany, is now the largest grid-scale battery system in the country, according to Energy-Storage.news, taking the record from a 30 megawatt installation commissioned by IPP Decci Group in 2024.

Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy, a Chinese storage manufacturer in which CATL holds a 20 percent stake, says it supplied 11 of its STAR T-285 liquid-cooled containers for the site, each rated at 3.45 megawatts and 3.793 megawatt-hours, for a combined 37.95 megawatts and 41.7 megawatt-hours. The containers stand alongside a 42.7 megawatt photovoltaic plant and connect to a major high-voltage substation. CNTE says the system is designed for fast-response frequency regulation and grid balancing, with discharge durations of one to four hours.
