China has set a target of more than 40 million electric vehicle charging facilities by 2030, enough to serve more than 110 million electric cars, and it has put the number in a plan for the electricity system rather than a plan for transport. Around 300,000 of those facilities are to be high-power chargers. The targets were [reported by People's Daily](http://finance.people.com.cn/n1/2026/0804/c1004-40773746.html) on 4 August.

The document is the New Power System Construction 15th Five-Year Plan, issued jointly by the National Development and Reform Commission, the state economic planning agency, and the National Energy Administration. It is dated 21 July 2026, was published on 3 August under reference number Fagai Nengyuan [2026] No. 942, and runs to the end of the decade. The newspaper's own account on X set out the same figures two days later.
