An epic reality: the latest Game of Thrones in London

A DIVIDE AND CONQUER GAME

Watching the protesters carrying EU flags and placards marching yesterday towards Parliament Square was nothing short of the Game of Thrones’ epic.

Game Of Thrones’ star Lena Headey, was among the celebrities who took it to the streets yesterday together with Claudia Winkleman, Neil Tennant and at least one million people like you and me, who give themselves permission to think for themselves.

Little I knew that having lunch with my friend at the Methodist Church in Westminster I will see Sadiq Khan and his team behind the scenes, while the march was growing regardless what their leaders think or, should I say, clearly, don’t think, anymore. It is time for leaders to understand that leadership is not about themselves anymore?

If you love storytelling you don’t need to sit on a sofa and travel back into a medieval fantasy. You could step into the epic of a reality that affects humanity and it will do so for decades to come. Brexit is one of the top three calamities that are a menace to society at present, alongside the tag of war in Venezuela and the imminence of an atomic war ( Bloomberg).

We were five hours after the march began and everybody who left their homes across the UK to join the march in Central London was thinking about their children’s future, and re-thinking the whole existence of Article 50.

“What gives us the right to steal our children’s right to prosperity?” Camille, a business owner from Bristol said.

Crowds were peacefully showing their choice and if hundreds of thousand people had turned up it wasn’t to outgrow the biggest protest- Stop the War march in 2003, but to he heard.

Spontaneous cheering, as well as chants of”What do we want? Individuals’s vote. When do we need it? Now!”

Unlike the politicians and experts I had no choice but listened to, I believe that the cause of this forced drop of the Sterling is not the leadership crises that is affecting us. Not at all. This is a “Divide and conquer” game.

When George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” turned into a HBO’s sensational story, we never imagined that we will have our fair share of sensational depiction between two powerful contenders for the Iron Throne.

If the fantasy revolves around the two families playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, Brexit is not about the United Kingdom leaving European Union, and Sovereignty, after all, but the supremacy game between Europe and America. You could argue this is another fantasy but who can stop me seeing what is happening in front of me, with my own eyes?
