Volkswagen of America will offer AirConsole, the in-car gaming platform developed by Zurich-based N-Dream, on six 2027 models including the Atlas and Tiguan, making it the first volume car brand in the United States to carry the service. Passengers play on the car's infotainment screen while it is parked, using their own smartphones as controllers.

The platform launches in the US with 20 games, among them PAC-MAN Championship Edition, UNO Car Party! and Tetris, which is appearing as an in-car game in North America for the first time. Players scan a QR code on the screen to connect their phones, so no extra hardware is needed.

AirConsole will be available on the 2027 Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R and ID. Buzz. In compatible models and trims, some games are linked to the ambient lighting, so the cabin lights change with the gameplay.

Volkswagen owners also get content made for the brand. A custom version of PAC-MAN replaces the power pellets with Volkswagen logos and the bonus fruit with Volkswagen models, and the games Golazo! and Memory Match carry Volkswagen-branded content.

The games come as part of In-Vehicle Premium, Volkswagen's connected services plan run through the myVW app, which also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, premium navigation and premium voice control, depending on the model. New Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan and Golf owners get three months free and ID. Buzz owners get a year, after which the plan costs $149 a year.

Rachael Zaluzec, chief marketing officer of Volkswagen of America, said the carmaker sees gaming as something for families and friends to do together. "In-vehicle gaming helps turn everyday moments into shared experiences, giving families and friends a new way to connect, laugh, and spend time together while enjoying their Volkswagen," she said.

## AirConsole's Carmaker Partnerships, From BMW to Škoda

N-Dream was founded in Zurich in 2015 by Andrin von Rechenberg, a former Google engineer. AirConsole started out as a platform for playing multiplayer games on a browser or smart TV with phones as controllers, and [moved into cars in 2023, when BMW put it in the new 5 Series](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/swiss-startup-airconsole-beats-apple-and-google-to-luxury-car-gaming). The company says it has released more than 40 titles across its carmaker partners since then.

Volkswagen first offered AirConsole in Europe in September 2024, on its ID. electric models in a dozen countries including Germany, France and the UK. Porsche added it to the new Macan in 2025, and Škoda launched it on the Enyaq and Elroq in February 2026 with a version of Tetris made only for Škoda drivers. Audi and Tata are also partners.

Indian automotive software company KPIT Technologies, an investor since 2023, [took a majority stake in N-Dream](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/how-kpit-acquired-n-dream-three-times-and-why-that-actually-makes-sense) in October 2025, raising its holding from 26% to about 89% for €16.35 million. ## In-Car Gaming in the US Market

Tesla has offered games on its screens since 2019 through Tesla Arcade and added Steam game streaming to some Model S and Model X cars in 2022. Mercedes-Benz offers retro arcade titles through Antstream on newer MBUX systems, and cars running Android Automotive with Google built in, such as those from Polestar, can download games from Google Play. In each case the games are playable only when the car is parked.

AirConsole is designed for several people to play together on one screen, each using their own phone. For the ID. Buzz, parked time includes charging stops.
