Ordinary traded goods are moving less, and yet the world's cargo aircraft are flying fuller. Global air cargo demand rose 8.5 percent in the year to June 2026 while airlines added only 4.4 percent more capacity, according to the International Air Transport Association. What is filling the gap is not the general run of world trade. It is [artificial intelligence hardware](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/data-center-abs-master-trust-520-million) and semiconductors, moving in a hurry.

The aircraft carrying most of that freight has a deadline on it. Boeing's 777-200 Freighter is scheduled to go out of production on 31 December 2027 under fuel-efficiency rules set by the International Civil Aviation Organization in 2017. Operators who want one have a closing window, and some of them are moving now.
