AI contract intelligence platform Ivo has grown annual recurring revenue by 600 per cent over the past 12 months. The San Francisco-headquartered company, which [raised $55 million last month](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/how-ivo-s-55m-funding-is-turning-contracts-into-a-source-of-business-intelligence), increased its total customer base by 134 per cent in the same period, with Fortune 500 adoption up 250 per cent. [IBM](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/enterprise-ai-race-intensifies-as-ibm-partners-with-anthropic-to-embed-claude-in-business-sof), Uber, Shopify, Atlassian, Reddit and Canva are now on the platform.

The numbers arrive at a moment when legal AI adoption is accelerating across the industry. According to Litify’s [2025 State of AI in Legal report](https://wislawjournal.com/2026/02/27/ai-adoption-surges-across-legal-industry-survey-finds/), 78 per cent of legal professionals now use AI tools, up from 23 per cent in 2023. Document review and analysis (the category Ivo operates in) ranks as the third most common use case at 36 per cent, behind legal research (66 per cent) and case summarisation (39 per cent).

## What is driving the growth

Contract review is one of the few enterprise functions where AI delivers measurable, immediate time savings. Ivo claims its platform enables legal teams to review contracts 75 per cent faster, surfacing answers to commercial questions in minutes rather than months. The platform reads agreements and extracts key terms, obligations, risks and commercial data (a category the company calls [contract intelligence](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/beyond-storage-ai-that-turns-contracts-into-business-answers), distinct from contract lifecycle management tools that handle workflow, approvals and signatures).

> "Every key business relationship is defined by an agreement, yet most organisations struggle to surface the insights inside them. Our focus is to give in-house contracting teams unprecedented visibility into their agreements."
> — Min-Kyu Jung, CEO and co-founder, Ivo

Kate Gardner, Senior Manager of Contract Operations at Uber, said the company selected Ivo because it ‘was intuitive to use, demonstrated a high level of accuracy, could work in multiple languages, and met its confidentiality requirements.’ Carla Michel, Director and Senior Counsel at CDW, said the platform ‘transformed the way we review contracts, making us far more efficient as a legal team.’

## Confidentiality as a gate

Half of legal professionals cite confidentiality, privacy and quality concerns as the primary barriers to enterprise AI adoption, according to the same Litify report. That finding helps explain why Ivo’s growth is concentrated among large enterprises rather than smaller firms. Fortune 500 legal departments have the budget and procurement infrastructure to evaluate AI platforms against their security and confidentiality requirements before deploying. Smaller firms, which rely more heavily on general-purpose tools like ChatGPT (used by 66 per cent of legal professionals), face a different risk calculus.

Ivo’s enterprise focus means it competes less on price and more on accuracy, multi-language support and data handling. Uber’s selection criteria (accuracy, multilingual capability, confidentiality compliance) reflect the buying pattern that has driven the company’s 600 per cent growth.

## Scaling to match demand

Ivo is opening offices in London and New York and plans to triple its headcount to 180 employees. The new locations place engineering, customer success and go-to-market teams in the two largest legal markets outside San Francisco. The company says the local engineering presence will accelerate product localisation across different jurisdictions and languages.

The expansion is funded by the $55 million raise completed last month. The hiring emphasis is on go-to-market and customer success rather than pure product development, which suggests demand is currently outpacing the company’s ability to serve it.

## Contract AI market context

The global AI in legal technology market is projected to reach $42.18 billion by 2036, growing at a compound annual rate of 20.2 per cent, according to [Meticulous Research](https://www.meticulousresearch.com/product/ai-in-legal-technology-market-6514). Law firms allocated nearly 40 per cent more to technology budgets by end of 2025 than before the rise of generative AI, per Thomson Reuters’ [2026 State of the US Legal Market report](https://www.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/posts/legal/legal-market-report-2026-analysis-ai-bubble/).

Ivo competes with Genie AI, Juro and Contractbook in adjacent parts of the contract technology market. It differentiates by focusing on intelligence extraction (reading and analysing agreement contents for in-house legal teams) rather than contract lifecycle management or automation.

## Further Context

**Q: What does Ivo AI do?**
Ivo is an AI-powered contract intelligence platform built for in-house legal teams. It automates contract review by extracting key terms, obligations, risks and commercial data from agreements. The platform works across multiple languages and legal frameworks, and is used by enterprise customers including IBM, Uber, Shopify and Atlassian. Unlike standard contract lifecycle management tools, Ivo focuses on intelligence extraction rather than workflow management.

**Q: Is Ivo a CLM?**
Ivo is not a traditional contract lifecycle management platform, although it shares some features with CLM tools. CLM systems manage contract workflow (drafting, approvals, signatures and storage). Ivo focuses on contract intelligence, meaning it analyses the contents of agreements to surface insights, risks and obligations. It can integrate with existing CLM systems to add an intelligence layer on top of standard contract management workflows.

**Q: What is the best AI tool for contracts?**
The AI contract review market includes several platforms serving different needs. Ivo focuses on enterprise-grade contract intelligence for in-house legal teams, with strength in multi-language and multi-jurisdiction accuracy. Other platforms include Genie AI (contract review and negotiation), Juro (contract automation for commercial teams) and Contractbook (full contract management). The best choice depends on whether a team needs review and intelligence extraction, end-to-end contract automation or negotiation support.
