Visitors to New York Comic Con can play Tetris inside the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas this week, with up to four people at a time using their smartphones as controllers and the SUV's ambient lighting changing color as they clear lines.

AirConsole, the [in-car gaming platform](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/swiss-startup-airconsole-beats-apple-and-google-to-luxury-car-gaming) from Zurich-based N-Dream, is running the demonstration with Volkswagen of America and The Tetris Company at the Pop Insider booth, number 1935, at the Javits Center from October 8 to 11. More than 250,000 visitors are expected over the four days.

"Bringing AirConsole and Tetris to the new Volkswagen Atlas at the New York Comic Con is a perfect match," said Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream. "The event brings together exactly the kind of fans who will love what AirConsole does. It's a place where people come to celebrate the stories and games that shaped them, while always looking forward to what's next."

## Tetris Game Modes in the 2027 VW Atlas

Tetris plays on the Atlas's central touchscreen while the car is parked, in four modes. Sprint is a race to clear 40 lines in the shortest time, alone or against the others in the car. Marathon is the classic game, where players chase the highest score, now for one player or several. Battle puts players head to head, and each line a player clears adds pressure on the opponents. Online Battle matches players against Tetris players in other cars around the world, or in a private room set up for friends.

When a player clears a line, the cabin's ambient lighting switches to that line's color. AirConsole's games use a car's screen, sound system and lighting together, and the lighting effects work in models and trims with compatible ambient lighting.

"Tetris is one of the most recognized and iconic video game brands in the world, and this is the latest step in how it keeps evolving alongside new players and new technology," said Maya Rogers, CEO of The Tetris Company. "Bringing Tetris into Volkswagen vehicles with AirConsole turns the Atlas into a multiplayer arcade for fans to enjoy."

Tetris was created in 1984 and has sold more than 520 million units worldwide.

## 2027 VW Atlas Screens and Ambient Lighting

The 2027 Atlas is the second generation of Volkswagen's seven-seat midsize SUV. Volkswagen began assembling it in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in late September, and it is due at US dealers this fall. Prices start at $41,610 for the front-wheel-drive SE, before a $1,525 destination charge, and go up to $56,610 for the SEL Premium R-Line.

The SE has a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, and every other trim has a 15-inch screen. Ambient lighting is standard, with 10 colors on the SE. On higher trims, 30 colors of light shine through small holes in the door panels and from behind the dashboard. Pressing the Driver Experience Dial on the center console brings up a setting Volkswagen calls Atmospheres, which matches the cabin lighting to the colors of the touchscreen. Tetris uses the same lights during a game.

## AirConsole Games on Volkswagen Models in the US

The Comic Con showcase follows Volkswagen's [launch of AirConsole on six of its 2027 models](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/airconsole-volkswagen-2027-atlas-tiguan-in-car-gaming) in the US last month. AirConsole comes with Volkswagen's In-Vehicle Premium plan, which needs an active myVW+ subscription, and three months of the plan are included with select new 2027 models. Some models also need the parking brake on before a game starts. AirConsole is aimed at passengers and families, and at drivers on their own during a charging break.

"New York Comic Con brings together communities built around shared passions and experiences," said Rachael Zaluzec, chief marketing officer of Volkswagen of America. "That makes it the perfect place to showcase how AirConsole can help turn time spent in a vehicle into something social, engaging, and fun."

Cliquot said a title as well known as Tetris made Comic Con the right place to show how AirConsole is bringing entertainment to the car, "an environment where people are spending more and more of their time." N-Dream, [a subsidiary of KPIT Technologies](https://www.sovereignmagazine.com/article/how-kpit-acquired-n-dream-three-times-and-why-that-actually-makes-sense), plans to bring AirConsole to more Volkswagen models.
